Fairfax Imaging awarded contract for Image Capture, Storage and Retrieval replacement system by California DMV
TAMPA, FLORIDA, JUNE 2007 – The California State Department of Motor Vehicles (CADMV) awarded Fairfax Imaging, Inc. a contract to develop and maintain a document imaging and storage solution that will process over 750,000 documents and images per day. The project also implements the technology needed to store documents described in the Federal Real ID Act. Fairfax Imaging will be the prime contractor for this project and will provide the development, integration and training for the solution.
Fairfax Imaging will provide five high-speed, high-volume, IBML ImageTrac III scanners and scanner software along with the peripheral hardware and software needed to meet the CADMV requirements, including: an EMC (NYSE: EMC) Celerra Network Attached Storage with automated, real-time offsite backup and multiple high-end Dell (NasdaqGS:DELL) servers clustered for redundancy. Fairfax Imaging will also be responsible for maintenance warranty coverage.
Fairfax Imaging will install its award winning imaging and data-capture platform Quick Modules, which is scalable and can be tailored to meet the business requirements of customers in both the government and commercial sectors.
Quick Modules provides faster processing and increased cost efficiency. By applying the latest in recognition technologies including OCR, ICR, CAR/LAR, and barcode capture, the system enables CADMV to streamline its operations and increase the productivity of its labor force.
Another CADMV requirement for this solution is to provide thirteen years of data and image storage with secure internet access by the CADMV field offices.
“The CA DMV needs a system that is not only high-speed and high capacity, but one that can store images and data that can be accessed securely via the web,” said Bill Merritts, V.P. Government Sales for Fairfax Imaging. “Fairfax Imaging has the engineering resources and experience necessary to develop solutions of this magnitude and complexity.”A factor in CADMV’s choice was Quick Modules’ ability to perform live retrieval of drivers license tracking numbers and other data from CADMV’s main-frame database of driver information, during the data capture and data validation processes. This enables CADMV to ensure that its driver information is accurate before it is stored for retrieval and use by the State.
